  • The Foreign and Commonwealth Office advise against all but essential travel to areas of Uzbekistan bordering Afghanistan.

  • Take care in areas bordering Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. Uzbekistan's borders are potential flashpoints and uncontrolled border areas may be land-mined. Borders are subject to closure without notice. See Local travel.

  • Take care if you travel to the Fergana Valley due to continuing tensions in the region.

  • There is an underlying threat from terrorism. See Terrorism.

  • Take care if you are travelling with medicines. Foreign nationals have been detained on arrival for possession of medication that would not normally be problematic in other countries. See Travelling with medicines.
