  • Following the arrest of the Leader of Malawi’s largest opposition party, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and other senior opposition and government officials on 11 March 2013, there have been sporadic confrontations between police and opposition supporters in Lilongwe and Blantyre. Be vigilant and avoid large crowds, demonstrations and public gatherings. Take extra care in market areas. You should also check movements and appointments in case of disruption. See Crime.
