  • Route 60CH and the Los Libertadores pass to Argentina are also partially closed in the V region due to road works. Local authorities have advised caution when travelling this route. Current opening hours of the pass are: Argentina to Chile 08:00 - 19:00 and Chile to Argentina 20:00 - 07:00. Please check the Chilean border crossings website for further information.

  • Security in the Araucania region has deteriorated following a series of attacks by violent groups. Take care if you are travelling to the Arauco, Malleco or Cautin provinces. See Local travel

  • In December 2012 the Copahue volcano - located along the Chile/Argentina border - erupted causing a cloud of volcanic ash that has affected nearby areas. Monitor local media reports and follow the advice of the local authorities. See Natural Disasters
